My good buddy Tommy passed away yesterday. Most of you know him on Noreast as "saddlebags". I had given him that nick name years ago when he would catch these gigantic bluefish and want to take them home on his Harley.
In short, everyone who read my reports knows what a great fisherman he was and what a great time we had together fishing "skinny". Every time we fished he would always grab something different from his tackle box to try out. He would ask me if I think it will work, I would reply, not really pick something else. He would keep picking something until I would say to him, YES, that's the one, you will catch a saddlebag for sure with that one. AND HE ALWAYS DID. People will say to you, I am lucky and always catch the big ones in skinny. Tommy had me beat.
As far as Tommy being my buddy. Well, with out getting to emotional he was a great friend. He was caring, loving, respectful, funny as ****, generous, huge heart for people who needed help and loved animals. He worked at many animal rescue groups and he was always the one that worked with the dogs no body else wanted to work with because they were mean. Tom always had a way of settling the dogs down and finding a new owner for them.
Tommy passed away from a complication of a hernia operation. After the surgery he got a very bad infection and never came out of it. Very Sad, because before this surgery he was doing great.
Well, rest in peace my buddy, you will always be with me and loved
Whether you're a novice or a seasoned angler looking for a challenge, there is an adventure waiting for you on LUV 2 FISH Charters. We are located in beautiful Mt. Sinai Harbor at Ralph's Fishing Station. We sail 7 days a week (weather permitting) May through November. Families, children and business trips are welcome! Reservations are required.
Within minutes out of the harbor, we are into some of the BEST fishing on Long Island for Fluke, Striped Bass, Blues and Porgies. All of these fish are caught in depths anywhere between 3 to 80ft. Some of the hottest fluke action is in 6 to 14ft of water. Of course light tackle and bucktails are a must!
This is a very funny video of my son Tom from June 27, 2012. We had a pretty good bass bite in skinny, he gets stuck in a muddy sink hole, looses the fish and then does a wrestling move I never seen before. Hilarious! Enjoy!
This quick video is some of my favorite pics of my kids fishing (from babies to 18 yrs old) boy where has the time gone . . .
